It’s disheartening to acknowledge that a significant portion of our nation, which proudly labels itself as American patriots, often appears to serve as unwitting pawns in a game that primarily benefits the status quo. They seem to fall in line with certain Republican viewpoints, believing that to oppose fascism somehow disqualifies them from true patriotism. However, this mindset is perilous and, unfortunately, they may one day find themselves faced with the harsh reality of what fascism truly entails. When their so-called “leader” with the unmistakable orange skin dispatches agents from ICE, law enforcement, and military forces to suppress dissent, the realization of their misplaced trust will come far too late. At that point, we will likely discover ourselves entrenched in a dictatorship under Republican rule.
It’s crucial for those who identify as MAGA supporters to awaken to this truth. The individuals in power do not genuinely care about your well-being; their primary interests lie in accumulating wealth, maintaining their grip on power, and utilizing you as a means to achieve those ends. Instead of offering constructive criticism, when Republicans denounce Democrats—who are far from innocent themselves—they are often, consciously or unconsciously, revealing the flaws and failures that exist within their own ranks.
The age-old adage “United we stand, divided we fall” rings truer today than ever before. We are faltering, not only due to the influence of MAGA ideologies but also because the opposing faction within our country is fragmented by issues surrounding religion, racism, and a myriad of other deeply-held convictions. If this division continues to persist, the only ones who will emerge unscathed and dominant will be the elite, while the vast majority of us will be left in a much worse position. The looming threat of oppression resembles a return to a form of systemic slavery that could impact us all, and it’s imperative that we collective recognize the frightening direction in which we are headed.
